The new location for Feed the Children will feature a Teacher Store for local educators and school officials.
NASHVILLE, TENN. – October 22, 2013 – Feed The Children proudly announces the opening of a brand-new distribution center located in La Vergne, Tennessee.
A spokesperson from Feed the Children says the distribution center will house a Feed the Children Teacher Store. There are three stores currently located in the United States—the one La Vergne, TN, one in Oklahoma City and one in Elkhart, Indiana. According to Feed the Children, teachers employed by Rutherford County schools designated as Title I will be eligible to shop within the store one time per month. There, teachers will receive a number of free books and school supplies.
As a way to mark the grand opening, Feed the Children plans to host various events and activities from October 22-25. These presentations will occur in the Middle Tennessee area, more specifically in Nashville and La Vergne. Feed the Children says that children, families and teachers can expect to enjoy many services during the week’s program.
Each year, approximately 12 million pounds of essentials and food will be filtered through this special Feed the Children distribution center. The opening event will occur on October 22, with Feed the Children hosting an open house at the La Vergne distribution center starting at 3 p.m.
Elijah’s Heart, a partner of Feed the Children, has planned a major distribution event for October 23, where 800 families will benefit from care packages. Elijah’s Heart had previously identified the families receiving essentials. Each family will be given a 10-pound container that includes various personal care items, as well as a 25-pound container of food. These boxes have been developed to assist a family with four members to live comfortable for at least one week, according to a source from Feed the Children.
Finally, Feed the Children will distribute hundreds of books to Buenavista Elementary Bordeaux Elementary on October 24 and Park Avenue Elementary School on October 26.
According to information gathered by Feed the Children, 33.7 percent of children residing in Nashville can be considered impoverished. Alarmingly, the number of Tennessee children residing in poverty could fill the entirety of Nashville’s LP Field approximately five times.
Feed the Children selected La Vergne as the site for this distribution center because of its location in Rutherford County. Rutherford County school districts possess the most children in Middle Tennessee who are receiving reduced or free lunches. The food, school supplies and other essential items to be held in the Feed the Children distribution center will assist these children, along with many other families throughout the southeast region.
The mission of Feed the Children is the offer a sense of hope for families by providing a host of resources for people who often go without many essential items. Feed the Children is an accredited charity by the Better Business Bureau branch Wise Giving Alliance. As one of the most popular charities headquartered in the United States, Feed the Children benefits in excess of 350,000 kids throughout the world by giving them a warm, nutritious meal each day.
